Στο πλαίσιο του Πολιτιστικού Προγράμματος της Κυπριακής Προεδρίας του Συμβουλίου της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης 2026, ο ιδιαίτερος χώρος του φουαγέ μετατρέπεται στο γραφείο του Σίγκμουντ Φρόιντ. Οι Βαρνάβας Κυριαζής και Ανδρέας Αραούζος ενσαρκώνουν δύο ισχυρές προσωπικότητες του 20ού αιώνα σε μια υπαρξιακή «ξιφασκία» λόγου και ιδεών. Το έργο του βραβευμένου Αμερικανού συγγραφέα Mark St. Germain φαντάζεται μια υποθετική συνάντηση το 1939, δύο ημέρες μετά την έναρξη του Β΄ Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου, ανάμεσα στον Σίγκμουντ Φρόιντ και τον Σι Ες Λιούις. Στο γραφείο του Φρόιντ στο Λονδίνο, οι δύο άνδρες συνομιλούν για την ύπαρξη του Θεού, την πίστη και την αμφιβολία, το τραύμα του πολέμου, την οικογένεια, την απώλεια και τον θάνατο. Η συζήτηση είναι ευγενική αλλά προκλητική, αναδεικνύοντας τη σύγκρουση ανάμεσα στη λογική και την πίστη. Presented within the Cultural Programme of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026, the unique foyer space is transformed into Sigmund Freud’s office. Varnavas Kyriazis and Andreas Araouzos portray two powerful 20th-century figures in an intense intellectual duel. Written by award-winning American playwright Mark St. Germain, the play imagines a fictional meeting in 1939, two days after the outbreak of World War II, between Sigmund Freud and C.S. Lewis. In Freud’s London office, the two men debate the existence of God, faith and doubt, war trauma, family, loss and mortality. The dialogue is both courteous and provocative, highlighting the tension between reason and belief.
