Μέσα στο πλαίσιο του πειράματος ερωτεύονται — αλλά αυτό που αισθάνονται είναι αληθινός έρωτας ή αποτέλεσμα της φαρμακευτικής αγωγής; Το έργο εξετάζει με απλότητα, χιούμορ και ευαισθησία τη φύση του έρωτα, την ψυχική υγεία, τα ηθικά όρια της επιστήμης και τη σύγκρουση ανάμεσα στην επιστημονική λογική και την ανθρώπινη παρόρμηση. Γραμμένο το 2012 για το National Theatre του Λονδίνου, το «The Effect» έχει βραβευτεί με το Critics' Circle Καλύτερου Νέου Έργου.
