Την Τετάρτη 12 Αυγούστου 2026, επιστρέφουμε στο Φράγμα Προδρόμου για μια ολόκληρη νύχτα παρατήρησης και φωτογράφισης ενός από τα πιο εντυπωσιακά φαινόμενα του καλοκαιρινού ουρανού, από τις 21:00 έως τις 05:00. Το 2026 η κορύφωση συμπίπτει με τη Νέα Σελήνη, προσφέροντας ιδιαίτερα σκοτεινό ουρανό και εξαιρετικές συνθήκες παρατήρησης. Οι Περσείδες εμφανίζονται κάθε χρόνο όταν η Γη περνά μέσα από τα υπολείμματα του κομήτη Swift–Tuttle. Πήραν το όνομά τους επειδή φαίνονται να προέρχονται από τον αστερισμό του Περσέα και αποτελούν μία από τις πιο αγαπημένες βροχές μετεώρων για παρατηρητές και φωτογράφους παγκοσμίως. Η εκδήλωση απευθύνεται τόσο σε φωτογράφους όσο και σε όσους θέλουν απλώς να ξαπλώσουν κάτω από τον ουρανό και να απολαύσουν το θέαμα. 🌠 Μέλη του Φωτογραφικού Ομίλου Λάρνακας θα βρίσκονται στον χώρο για βασικές ρυθμίσεις και απορίες σχετικά με τη φωτογράφιση μετεώρων. On Wednesday, 12 August 2026, the club returns to Prodromos Dam, Limassol, for a full night of stargazing and astrophotography from 21:00 to 05:00. In 2026, the peak of the Perseids coincides with the New Moon, delivering exceptionally dark skies and outstanding viewing conditions. The Perseids appear every year as Earth passes through debris left behind by Comet Swift–Tuttle. They take their name from the constellation Perseus, from which the meteors appear to radiate, and are among the most beloved meteor showers for observers and photographers worldwide. 🌠 The event is open to everyone — experienced photographers and casual stargazers alike. Members of the Larnaca Photography Club will be on hand to offer guidance on camera settings and meteor photography techniques. RECOMMENDED PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT • Camera • Wide-angle lens • Sturdy tripod • Intervalometer or continuous shooting function • Memory cards and spare batteries • Red torch or red light USEFUL ITEMS TO BRING • Chair or ground mat • Warm clothing • Water, coffee and snacks • A bag for your personal waste 🔴 To preserve dark conditions and protect ongoing photography, please use red lighting only. A: Despite being August, nights at Prodromos Dam can be quite cool due to the altitude. Layered warm clothing is strongly recommended. Q: Are there any light restrictions at the site? A: Yes. Only red lighting is permitted. White torches, phone screens on full brightness, and camera flashes should be avoided to protect the dark sky conditions for all attendees.
