Η παράσταση βασίζεται σε πέντε θεατρικά κείμενα που προέκυψαν από το βιβλίο The Dark Side of the Earth, αποτέλεσμα σχεδόν δέκα ετών έρευνας και εκατοντάδων αποκλειστικών συνεντεύξεων. Ο συγγραφέας Mikhail Zygar εξετάζει γιατί η κατάρρευση της Σοβιετικής Ένωσης υπήρξε ημιτελής, πώς αναβίωσαν αυτοκρατορικές ιδέες και γιατί οι συνέπειες αυτών των εξελίξεων γίνονται αισθητές μέχρι σήμερα. Author and journalist Mikhail Zygar explores why the collapse of the Soviet Union remained incomplete, how imperial ideas resurfaced, and why their consequences are still felt today. Figures such as Mikhail Gorbachev, Andrei Sakharov, and Alexander Solzhenitsyn appear through their struggles and decisions.
